"The most essential gift for a good writer is a built-in, shock-proof, shit detector. This is the writer's radar, and all great writers have had it."
Ernest Hemingway
Brian is a freelance music writer and a known interviewer of legendary and up-and-coming musicians, primarily guitarists. With the intention to enlighten others to guitar playing brilliance within every genre, his published articles and CD/DVD reviews can be found in numerous magazines and e-zines. When not writing about music and interviewing people in the business, he writes short stories of profound fiction (and plays the guitar, of course). He has recently completed his first novel, entitled, ‘The Three Doors’. Brian resides in Norton, Massachusetts, with his wife Nancy and their two teenagers.
"Great music isn't always heard on the radio in 'popular' formats. It's often hidden, sometimes in the shadows or underground, like treasure. But once discovered and recognized, it becomes an invaluable fortune that lives on forever in our hearts and minds. Discovering it is an obsession of mine. I'm then The Messenger." ~ Brian D. Holland

May 4, 2008: I'm honored to have discovered that my Ronnie Earl article/interview, Playing For A Higher Power (in relation to the new record, "Hope Radio"), which was recently published in both Illinois Blues and the Boston Blues Society, is featured on Ronnie's site now. Thank you, Debbie! It means a great deal to me, as Ronnie is one of my all-time favorite guitarists, and truly one of the great blues players.
Performer quote of the month: "Some of our lyrics are definitely emotional, but some Zeppelin lyrics are pretty emotional, too. You could call them an emo band as well." Joe Trohman ~ Fall Out Boy
